How can I get rid of a skunk?

it looks young and it just started coming up recently. WE have been very lucky so far but we want it gone before our luck runs out... I live in the city and not sure what to do. It isn't eating the cat food which I will no longer be putting out but I just don't want to get sprayed.

You need to call your city animal control.  Beware of skunks, because they will bite... besides using their other ends in unpleasant ways.

Call Animal Control or if its legal in your state, just shoot it.  go with the first option, cuz you dont want a stinky dead skunk laying around anywhere near your house for an extended period of time.  Or you can buy poison that will do a good job.
