This year more than ever there appears to be lots of clover in my lawn. Can anyone point me towards a weed killer that won`t kill the grass.

  1. Aww - poor clover.  It's not the worst thing to have in your lawn and it won't spread to your borders like dandelions do.  If you must get tid of it, try repeat applications of a lawn feed that has weedkiller in it - such as evergreen.

  2. I let the clover grow as clover is a legume fixing nitrogen into the soil.  the clover is gone by June or July anyway

  3. You may want to check out Forceful Insecticides & Fertilizers by John Perez, where he uses natural, organic and homemade recipes for fertilizers and insecticides that are safe for your lawn and kids/pets, yet effective.

Here's his site, where you can read about it:

  4. Clovers are short-lived perennials or annuals. They actually enrich the soil with nitrogen through their root system and can look quiet attractive along with grass. If you let them be, the grass will eventually take over since grass is hardier in drought conditions (which probably means you are getting plenty of rain these days or you have the sprinkler on all the time).

Most weed killer will kill all broadleafed plants including clover. It may also kill your earthworms. Long ago before weedkillers, a good lawn consisted of 20% clover. If you have to have a clover-free turf, try spreading cornmeal in early spring. Cornmeal is a natural pre-emergent herbicide. It will prevent any clover seeds from sprouting. Your earthworms will love you for it also. The end result, great looking lawn that is safe for children and animals, reduced fertilizer requirement, less chemical run-offs, reduced dead-zones in the world's oceans and lawn fairies will smile for you.

  5. Try "Image"... buy from Home Depot.
