Question:

How can I get rid of all these nightmares I keep having?

I can remember my dreams from the night before vividly almost everyday, which is strange. Most people don't remember. Half the time my dreams are horrible nightmares, relating to my personal issues and my past. Lately, I've been continuously having bad dreams. I wake up crying and last night in the dream i actually pinched myself saying 'please wake up, i know this is a dream!' and i didn't wake up until later in the dream. Fortunately, this dream had sort of a happy ending, but it was still terrible. Sometimes i even wake up sobbing and my pillow and hair is soaking wet, What can I do?

Oh, by the way - I rarely watch scary movies, not because of nightmares, but because of how.. scary they are. I watch tons of shows all the time like CSI, law and order SVU, criminal minds, etc. I love shows like this, and they've never given me bad dreams.. un til now. I don't know what to do, but I'm sick of these dreams because I wake up in a depressed mood since I keep going back through my dreams to overanalyze them.

I'm 14, and my parents suggest I stop watching those shows, but I really would rather not.. any suggestions? thank you so much

  1. About an hour before you go to bed, you should read a good book or turn off those shows and watch a more exciting and funny one.

  2. ok this is what you have to do at night time say your prayers and pray hard and when you think about it just say a little prayer or just think bout happy things and it will be alright before you know it if it works out email me at meme22771@yahoo.com thx

  3. before you go to sleep..

read a book...listen to music...drink water....and pray (if u are that type of religion.

  4. If you are on medication for anything, go to your doctor. Some medication boosts serotonin which can cause vivid dreams. Dreams are your brains way of forcing you to confront issues that you are not thinking of while awake. You may want to write down your dreams to help you understand them. Otherwise, I'd suggest writing things that are bothering you in a journal about an hour before bed. 30 minutes before bed, drink some tea to help you relax. Keep your bedroom dark and cool. Try doing relaxing things(NOT TV!) before you sleep and see if that helps.

  5. watching alot of these shows depends on how emotionally involved you get into it. if you are really into it and scares you at one point or grosses you out wich leaves you thinking about it in the day, yeah your going to dream about it. if its enough to leave an emotional inprint on you, your should try to at least cut down.

  6. just pray before you sleep
