How can I get rid of anitivirus 2008?

Computers would be a better place to post this question, but here ya go, seems that this trojan/virus is making the rounds.

I just had this happen to my laptop on my home network, it was a b***ch, and took about 3 hours of work to get rid of it.

I added "windows defender" and "windows malicious software removal tool" Ran a whole scan (this is what takes so long) and then went into start up options in the defender, and disabled it. It was the only way I could get rid of it.

I actually had 3 trojans and a ton of spyware.

Both of these programs are free, and part of microsoft, so they are safe.
