How can I get rid of fleas on 5 week old kittens?

I rescued a bunch of kittens , they had been born outside and the mother abandoned them. I've been taking care of them for nearly 2 weeks now and finally found some friends who are willing to adopt them..but they have fleas. I called my Vet who sold me some stuff to put on them over a week ago. I just can't seem to get them free of these fleas. I change their bedding and brush them a few times a day while still using the Vets medication as well.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THEY ARE NO LONGER OUTSIDE.

  1. It usually takes more than just a week.  I would get some flea shampoo and give them baths in the sink.  Since they are so young you can do this.  I gave my mom a 3 month old kitten with fleas and she gave him a bath.   Its been about two months and the fleas haven't come back.  She used human shampoo as well.  I told her she should never use anything but products for animals but, it seemed to work.

  2. GIVE THEM A BATH IN DAWN! These kittens are still too young to have flea collars or front line put on them yet.

Give them a bath in dawn. It will kill the fleas but won't harm the kittens. I've given bathes to kittens in dawn as young as 13 days old.

Give them a bath in dawn about three times, then wash them down real good with water. While they are still wet, brush them down real well with a flea comb.

    Good luck!

  3. wash them in dawn dish soap and take a flea comb and put the fleas in a cup of rubbing alcohol, that will kill them....then you have to WASH EVERYTHING in your house and probably steam clean your carpets etc.
