Question:

How can I get rid of mold in a bathroom with carpet without actually removing the carpet itself?

We are renting a house with a small bathroom (it is pretty much a closet with a stand-up shower and toilet in it) that has no windows for ventilation. It has a small fan but it doesn't seem to work very well, and I am concerned about mold. There is some pretty obviously old carpet in the bathroom. Does anyone know of a way to sanitize the carpet itself without actually removing it? I am not handy by any means and don't think I could take out the carpet and replace it with anything by myself without making a complete disaster out of the room....

  1. Vaccum clean & then air dry..with a blower.

  2. I found this article online that seems very informative:

If you can, keep the room dry. Baking soda also absorbs moisture, and the instructions for applying it are at that page I listed.

(If you really wanted to get science-y on mold's butt, install an ultraviolet light in the room and keep it on all night. That will keep the bathroom more sanitary, as well.)

  3. Here is what i find a very informative link to cleaning up mold. You wont need to remove the carpet. http://www.wehomeinspect.com/Cleaning_up...
