I do my best to clean up the carpet after the animal accidents. I do not have the following items that would help get rid of the smell:

money

baking soda

vinegar

carpet shampooer

Thank you for reading this and any suggestions you have.

  1. just fabreeze the house. But seriously, try to avoid your pets from going in the house. i've had the same problem before but we just replaced all the carpet in the house and made the animals go outside. but money would help , so i dont really know what else to suggest:\

  2. Two ways I have found that seem to work for me and I have many reasons to use them and they are all living indoors.

First, if it is an old spot then spray a dilute solution of 1 part white vinegar and 20 parts water over the spot. Let it soak for several minutes then dab it up with a clean white towel. You may need to repeat several times till you get the smell up and/or the towel doesn't  look yellow or dirty. After you are done with this process let the spot dry and then apply an enzymatic pet cleaner solution over the spot to break-up any left over particles that might still remain.

Another product I am fond of recently, because lately it seems to do the trick, is called ECO 88.

Otherwise, as soon as I can afford to I am ripping up all the carpet in my house and going for tile, but that's just me personally.

    Good luck :)

  3. I use the costly Eco Quest  Alpine Air Purification System,  mine is called FRESH AIR PURIFIER see it at http://www.alpineairproducts.com/#  to be honest, it has done wonders at my house of 3 kitties for years, since 2002, I loved it so much I got started selling them so I can get another one for my garage where the litter box is.  The litter box smell coming through my kitty door in the HOT SUMMER MONTHS was so bad!!! It has a quick sanitize button when you cook fish or a kitty has a bad #2 I love them so much.. If you read about it, you will see a day or 2 depending on how bad the problem is, on full blast with NO ONE PETS OR YOU in the house will pull the smell out of the carpet.. Keeps dust mites away too.. pet dander, as you can see I am sold on these.. So easy to keep clean just vacuum the filter and wash and dry completely the ion plate, and your done!!! I no longer sell them but I can tell you what I know now, I would buy it them both again for full price!! Check ebay make sure its an eco quest, there are so many imitators!!! GOOD LUCK!!

  4. Lysterine or any other mouthwash.

Just put some in a spray bottle and spray the area lightly. The mouthwash neutralized the urine smell. We moved in to our house and the people who lived here let their cats use the house as one giant litterbox! I was going to tear out the carpet it was so bad. But a friend of mine worked for Kirby and suggested I try the mouthwash. It worked like a charm.

Just use the original clear or "yellow" formula. DOnt use the blue or green as this can stain the carpet.

  5. If it's cat urine....

Cat's urine contains uric acid crystals and bacteria, which aren't soluble, and water will actually activate them again, making the smell stronger (which is why it might smell worse on a humid day).

Regular household cleaners will not work to get rid of the uric acid crystals or the bacteria.

Go to a vet's office and get an enzyme cleaner - this will break down the uric acid crystals and eat up the bacteria.  You pour lots of it onto the spot, and then just let it sit and soak into the carpet, underpadding and the floor beneath.

  6. What do you have available for cleaning?  Do you have laundry soap? Peroxide? Shampoo? Pine-sol? Rubbing alcohol? Make up a soap and water solution with any kind of cleaner you have, (pin sol, body wash, etc.) Scrub the area with a brush and soap solution. Blot up with a towel. Then pour peroxide or Rubbing Alcohol on th area, let set for a few minutes to kill germs and odor, then blot up.
