I'm embarrassed to admit to anyone that I have pinworms. Can I get an over the counter medicine to get rid of pinworms? I'm only 16 years old, and I'm worried that I need to be 18 to buy it myself.

  1. The over the counter drug for pinworms is Mebendazole.

You have to take a single dose   and follow up with another dose in 10 days.

During this period you should wash your clothes daily and change the upper sheet of the bed daily.

The advice given by the contributor above can be followed.

  2. You need to tell your parents. Pin worms are nothing to be embarrassed about. They are super contagious and can easily be transmitted innocently, especially between kids and young people. They live for up to 3 weeks on things (fingernails, clothes, etc), and if you are infected it is important for EVERYONE in your family to be treated. Good luck and don't stress about this one. It's not the most pleasant thing, but it can be easily treated :-)
