How can I get rid of that new jeans smell?

I dont know what, but must be a strong dye on some jeans i bought, and it really has a strong smell, i have tried washing them once, and the smell is still there, and making my other clothes smell like it also!

Anyone got any ideas or tips how do get rid of the smell?

Try airing them out for a day or two, then washing again- this time with either vinegar or baking soda.

-Put them out in the sun

-Tumble dry them on medium heat

-Bizarrely, put them in front of a fan or heater!

put them in the washer and add fabric softner (Comfort)

and add some perfume (colon) in the water used to wash

We had an article in our newspaper in Australia about denim being produced in China with high chemical odours - some people have become allergic to the chemicals. My sister took her jeans back to the shop after washing them and putting and rinsing them in comfort conditioner but no change to odour.

cant u use some strong perfumes

Fill the washer with water and add a cup of vinegar to it. Wash normally and that should do the trick.
