Please, no 'click this link to download this FREE antivirus'.

Popups keep appearing trying to get me to install an antivirus, or the same pop-ups keep appearing. I've scanned my system with norton internet security and it found no viruses. I already have pop-up blocker.

Please help.

  1. If Norton says it is not a virus, then it is not.

  2. it's just a pop up trying to get you to click it so they can install virus's into your computer.

  3. I get it all the time don't worry.

Make sure you don't click the pop-ups and you'll be fine.

In my opinion McAfee Virus Software and McAfee Internet Security is the best for stopping pop-ups like that.

  4. Well Norton does not really pick up simple viruses or spyware unfortunately, therefore you should try lavasoft's free adaware, it will scan for all spyware and adverts installed on your machine causing trouble and will remove them.

Spybot is also very good, but if you have it installed before norton, norton says its incompatible with spybot, i have not tried reinstalling spybot so do that at your own leisure if you think it will work.

Definately try adaware, search it on google, its by a company called lavasoft and its free.

  5. If it ever pops up don't click "no" instead open task manager (CTRL+ ALT+ DEL) and look for the process and end it.

Download SuperAntiSpyware and do a Full Scan

  6. It's hard to say without more information but if it's one that most people have been getting recently this should work.

Switch off system restore - you can restart it once your computer is clean.

Download the free version of SUPERantispyware http://superantispyware.com Update and run a full scan then reboot.

If this doesn't work email me and I'll give you some more.

  7. I think Valtrex works to clear up flare-ups...

McAfee works...I think it is free.

  8. It is not a virus but a Ad-ware.Visit www.download.com and download a free adware removal

Regarding the noise coming out of your computer could mean a lot of things, i would suggest you first carry out a thorough cleaning by using compressed air to blow away all those inner dirts

  9. It's not a virus, it's a malicious codec which AV programs will NOT remove, use the following:

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Quick Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

  10. If you have downloaded any free software, it could be that the deal is that you get this annoying popup thing.

    Try this. . . .

    a] click open MY COMPUTER

    b] click open DISC C

    c] click open PROGAM FILES

Now take your time and check/read the name of each pgm file stored on your PC.  If you see any which you know you do not use or have not used ever, open it.

Be sure this is the pgm you want to stop.

1] dump page 1 from the opened pgm file

    2] dump page 2 etc

These pages will now be dumped to you Trash Can from where they can quickly be retrieved if need be.

Dumping a couple of pages from any pgm as described above, will stop it operating.

You can return the pgm to it's original condition by simply restoring the dumped pages back to it, etc.

The above method is one I have used many many times.  It works.

    Good luck. . . .

  11. Try mozilla w/ adblock plus and noscript extensions.  Very reduced chance of it still occuring.

You can also try anti-spyware programs, like spybot, ad-aware, spyware terminator, and a-squared free, all from www.download.com.

If you want help w/ your tower noise, you need to describe the type of noise, like buzzing, or pulsating, or it occurs when __________ occurs.
