I have weeds up under my shrubs that line the front of my house 2 or 3 bushes have already turned brown, and the others aren't looking too healthy. How can I get rid of the weeds and preserve the bushes (not to mention how will I get them looking normal again)??

  1. If you wet the area really well, you may be able to pull the offending weed right out of the ground by the roots. The roots are strangling it and spraying it with a spray will only kill the surface plant and not the root of it not to mention the fact that weed killer could kill your bush. Cutting the offending plant about 1 foot up or so will kill what has become entangled in your bushes and once they dry out, you will be able to simply pull them out. As for getting them back into shape, trim back anything that is completely dead as the plant will still try to make it come back and waste too much energy possibly killing the rest of the plant. then add some mulch and some liquid fertilizer and water it in really well.
