How can I get roses he buys me to last as long as possible?

Question

Occasionally my man will bring me a beautiful bouquet of roses or flowers.

I do the regular - I cut the stems at an angle and mix that powder stuff into the water. But, they still only end up lasting a few days.

Is their anything I can do to make them stay alive longer? Preferably without buying anything extra.

I'm not sure what's in that powder, but I hear to always use a crushed aspirin.  Also, don't let the water get murky, switch it out with lukewarm water daily.

Just say this on TV yesterday.  Cut at least 1/2 inch off the ends, change the water every couple of days & put about a teaspoon of bleach in it.
