How can I get rust spots off of metal?

I have 4 chairs and a table that have a little rust on them. There white and could I like sand them down and then spray paint them with the spray paint that doesnt rust? thanks!

You can use the sos pad but you will wanna spray with wd 40 first.

You could, but eventually the rust will come back. If the spots are small, you could also scrub them with steel wool (Brillo pad) and they wont be as noticable. Much less work.

most paints don't rust, just the steel under it. Coat it good.

Hello Anne,

I would either use steel wool on them or a stiff wire brush to remove the rust. Wipe them with paint thinner, let it dry. Then use a good metal primer and paint with a Rustoleum paint. This should keep it rust free for awhile. It would also be good to bring them indoors during the winter.
