How can I get schools in my county to recylce?

None of the schools in my county recycle, and I would really like to start a recycling program throughout all of the county.

Every day I see people throwing away tons of things that we all know can be recycled, and it always upsets me.

The sad part is, though, that there is a public recycling center right behind my school.

My old schools in a different county used to recycle, but I don't know how to get a program started.

Please help!

You could ask the school, county or borough council to make a poster and get a programme started. Also ask somebody at the school that you are in. Sometimes, they can't do it due to a lack of staff. The people who throw it away don't realise and/or understand that they can recycle it. They could buy different colour bags. In Guernsey (Channel Islands), they are trying to reduce the carrier bags by using reusable bags made out of recycled material.

start to inform your classmates and ask the teachers to make projects about it!

We went to our school nurse or director and we made a system: different rubish bins next to each other:one for paper,one plastique,one metal and one for food and things like that,

it really works=)

start out by talking to the teachers and staff who are into recycling and get a system going

pretty soon itll get pretty big

contact your old school and see what kind of program they are on do they get paid from the recycler for the items that are collected from the school.get pricing on paper,cardboard,aluminium cans,glass,plastic,see what is paid out for these items,see if they would set out collection containers at your school and what kind of money the school could raise and the savings from the reduced dumpster pick ups go to the county school board maybe your school doesn't want to do anything but pressure to the board may help especially if there is money to be made
