How can I get someone to sponsor me?

I'm talking about someone paying for tennis training not supplying me with apparel. I'm fairly good and I was just curious as to how this could be done.

Thanks in advance!

  1. first of all do u have a ranking because brands don't just sponsor just anybody unless ur good.

  2. if u suck, y wory?

  3. U need a tennis ranking to even think about getting sponsered sorry. Cheers x*x Gordo x*x

  4. In Italy if you win any normal junior event or reach the semis you get clothes and bags and stuff!! Normaly all TTK!!

And the PIA team national event is the best, you get bags just for being part, not to mention matching clothes.

  5. Companies will not typically sponsor a player unless you are winning junior usta championships or the like (I'm assuming you're young). Being 'pretty good' isn't really enough for a company to justify sponsoring you professionally.

However, there is a chance you could have local businesses help. This is more from charity than from the company desiring having you associated with their name. You can write a letter to the owners and ask for assistance... but realistically, just get a job and pay for it yourself.

  6. That depends on your definition of pretty good.  If you are winning USTA sectionals and nationals then you can certainly find an Academy like Bollettieri, Evert, or Macey to give you a scholarship to come train.  The problem is that unless you are a standout player, these places cost at least $20-50,000 a year...

As far as any local coaching, you have to remember that this is the coaches job.  They make money by teaching you and can't simply offer their services for free.  The academies can do that by charging the "pretty good" players $50,000 a year to cover the costs of the scholarship students.  Then they use  their scholarship students that go pro as advertising for how great the academy is.  (Sharapova is a walking Bolletieri billboard...)

Good luck finding some help, I remember paying my coaches was always expensive, but its hard to get out of if you want to improve...
