How can I get the TV channels back on my On Digital box?

My stepmum unplugged the On Digital box, which we were using to receive Freeview channels. It was working fine until she unplugged it, but now we cannot seem to get Freeview back. I have tried using the "Add Channels" function and each time it tells me "No Channels Found". On the actual channels, when I've flicked through them, all I see is a little red square in the top right hand corner of the screen. Please help! A step by step walkthrough would be very helpful, please bear in mind that I don't know a lot about this sort of thing, normally my dad would help me but he's moved to the US.

the little red square normall appears when the is no arieal signal to the freeview box you need to check that the arieal is plugged in the freeview box and the scart lead is plugged in from the freeview box to the tele ( the arieal needs to be plugged in to the freeview box )  GL

I don't have an answer but more questions.  What exactly is it ?  I'm in the US also but I'm not familiar with it.
