How can I get the members of my yahoo group tospeak to each other?

I am the owner/moderator of a yahoo group where I approve all messages etc., My members don't seem to e-mail each other. They respond to Polls but don't talk to each other like in some other groups. They send in the odd posting but not much else. They send in pictures too,Is it because I approve all messages that they don't speak to each other or do I have my group on the wrong setting. Should I change the setting to invitation only. I want more members to join the group though. By putting the group on invitation only would that not mean that members do not know where the group is as it would not be in yahoo directory. Any ideas on how to get members to speak to each other.

Start with a rant and finish with, "What do you guys think?"  Invite members to start their own threads. Once you've got open discussions going at your group, the members are more likely to start e-mailing each other.

Be sure to appoint enough mods so that someone is checking and approving new posts every 3-4 hours. Don't drop message moderation, because you don't want your members flooded with spam.

putting it on invite only stop anyone from joining a group..as only ppl you know you can invite them.

setting the group to closed is not really a good idea nor what will help with what you're wanting. if they are sending posts to the group, I'd think the setting is right but you can check. if you're wanting the conversations to go to the group it would be

management- under group settings click messages- Posting and Archives (Edit) <-- click the edit- 2nd column reply to should be checked all members- click save changes

to get conversation started on the group sometimes takes an extra effort. try posting questions instead of polls. not sure of your group topic, but generally questons asked via a post can generate conversations. example "where does everyone live" after a while of group related questions posted, more embers will find things in common and post more to each other
