How can I get the most out of my appointment n have things work better?

I go to a psychotherapist. She's the koolest person u've ever met n uses all the techniques. I'm even doubting if there was anyone else in my life who taught me more than she has!

The only thing wrong is that time runs out too fast. I have too many things to tell her n usually the time we have is not enough. What can I do to make things work/ maybe shorten my list?

  1. My suggestion would be to bring this concern up with her. Who better to give you advice on how to spend your hour with a therapist than the therapist herself. Seeing as how she is such a roll model for you I'm sure she has the correct answer.

  2. First you should let her know that sometimes you feel you have more to talk about than the time allotted can offer. She may be able to lengthen your appointment from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. She also may give you some "homework" to do where you use her techniques to analyze things on your own time. This is an excellent tool. Either way, I'm sure that if you explain this is bothering you she will be more than happy to accommodate you.

  3. well if you write them all out just the things you absolutely need to ask...and make sure you don't get off track and then if you have extra time you can do the extra things...

  4. Make a list before you go in.  Figure out techniques you can work on yourself.  Talk to her about what you can work on by yourself (maybe even do a whole session about this).
