Question:

How can I get the smell of cat pee out of my room?

One of our cats has been having potty issues. He's been peeing a few times around the house. Today he went in my closet on a pile of blankets. I took the blankets out (and shoes and other items), and threw those in the wash. There were only a few spots where pee got on the carpet (probably from him sitting on it because he was wet when I picked him up). We washed those spots on the carpet, but my room still smells like cat pee. I've already sprayed practically half the bottle of Fabreeze in my room.

Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the smell? I don't want the smell getting onto my clothes either. Cat pee smells like B.O.

  1. Try  Woolite Pet.  It is amazing stuff.  My cat peed on my viva suede couch and the Woolite got the stain and the odor out.  Its around 3.50 at Target.

  2. tear up the carpet and put a new one in

  3. You can find lots of new products out there now for this problem, if it is a male cat he may be marking his territory and if he is it is too late to fix this problem, try having him neutered that may help.  Also when cleaning the area, make sure NOT to use any type of ammonia product as this will encourage the cat to keep going to that spot as their urine is ammonia based.  Good luck

  4. What you do to get rid of the smell is put baking soda on it. IThis helps in a lot of ways it helps save money. If this doesn't work pet stores have this special mixture that will get the smell out and if you have a stain it helps with that too!!

    Hope this helps!!!

  5. there is a product called eliminodor that does the job.  ask your veterinarian or check petco.

  6. scrub the part were your cat went really good and  then spray your room with a little air freshner thats all!!!!!!!!

  8. There is also a product called OdoBan made by Clean Control Corporation.  Their address is PO Box 7444, Warner Robins, GA and their phone # is 478-922-5340.  You might call them and ask for the closest outlet store that sells this stuff.  Ive found that it works really well, if you can get to the urine.  My wife has 3 inside cats, and one of those little ******* tries to keep the dogs out of the kitchen area where her or his food is, so the little rapscallion keeps peeing down the floor heater/ac vents.  There are 2 in the kitchen floor and I hate cats.  Im not sure which I have stronger emotions for....the cats or the love for my wife...I can tell you this.  She still has the cats.  OdoBan is not a masking agent...it somehow breaks down that nasty nasty cat stuff and makes it tolerable to make toast.  Its .03 percent Allkyl (dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. and 99.70 percent other ingredients.  It also kills 99.99 percent of germs as well.....so spray till you have all of your aggressions out.  It's also an instant action air freshener and you can hit everything from showers to bedding with it.  Upholstery, kitchens, bathrooms, smoke odors...and it won't harm washable fabrics.

  9. First off you need to take him to the vet asap to rule out any medical problems.  Male cats can get crystals that build up and can block the urine from passing.  This can be very painful and prove fatal to the cat within 48 hours if left untreated, especially if the is blood in the urine.  Cats will go in other spots because when they go in the litter box it hurts so they don't want to go in there anymore.  They associate the litter box with pain.  Secondly febreeze will not take the smell out, you need to get an enzyme based cleaner and use it on the spots.  First you have to blot up the urine with a dry paper towel and next spray the cleaner on the carpet, let it soak in the carpet for 10 min, then blot it up with a wet sponge.  Repeat if necessary.  Lastly, sprinkle baking soda on the area and vacuum the carpet. Please take him to the vet ASAP he could be sick and this is a serious thing, it is NOT good to wait even one day.

  10. 1/2 water 1/2 vinigar in a spray bottle rub it in with a cloth the vinigar smell will go away.
