Question:

How can I get the video from my camcorder onto my computer?

I don't have an IEEE port, just USB. But when I go into capture into Adobe Premiere it doesn't show my camcorder any where. I tried using the native capture JVC provided but it's output is only 120x70...way too small!

Do they make "external IEEE ports" or something like that?

  1. Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

I have not heard of an external firewire port, but google it, it's a firewire port or ieee 1394.

  2. Premiere, like all other video editors, expects your camcorder to be connected via firewire - if it isn't, it won't be seen.

I'm not sure what you mean by an "external IEEE" port, but you can easily add PCI, PCMCIA or Express firewire cards.

  3. Hey, R4NDR01D,

You will have to add an capture card in order to import, check out this page...
