How can I get to JFK Airport from Center City Phila?

I need to get to JFK Airport, NYC, from Center City , Phila and then back a week later

lol....I've been pondering the same problem, but from Baltimore to JFK.

Basically you have about three options.  Fly, take the train or drive.

You can usually count on train fares to remain constant.  On the other hand, air fares can fluctuate from $29 specials to full price and car rentals seem to always have deals too.

After researching our best options (there are three of us) we decided to rent a car. If it were just me, I would try to get a flight that was reasonable or take the train.

Your best bet is the train.  Take either Amtrak or Septa/NJT to Penn Station, and either a cab or the subway system from there.  

Septa/NJT is cheaper, but Amtrak is direct.  

If you have more than a few people, a van or limo service becomes economical (4 people seems to be about the breakeven point)
