See I live in the city and I really want a horse but the thing is I don't know a lot about horses and I don't know how to take care of them. I would really like to interact with horses but were and how much would it cost.

How can I get that experience and is it possible for someone to let me volunteer at a horse stall with some training

I was hoping that being around horses will help me know if a horse is really what I want.

  1. I am in the same boat as you are.  I am hoping to find a stable near by to see if I can volunteer in exchange for the experience.  Otherwise, I found a place near my home that offers group riding lessons.  They are $25 an hour once a week, I figure I can force myself to only take 1 lesson per month in order to prevent from turning it into another bill I have to pay, I need to try to save some money so I can get a place with enough room for at least 2 horses.  They recommend 2 acres for each horse.  Once I get the land, I will be able to pay for the rest of the responsibilities of horse ownership.

I have also been trying to locate equine schools, and have been unsuccessful in my area.  Try a search on the internet for courses that might be offered near you.

Good Luck.  I have always wanted a horse and recently visited my cousin on the other side of the country, she has several horses and allowed me to ride them while I was there.  I just realized that I am meant to have a horse.  I cannot get the idea out of my head for a minute, so I know what you are going through.  I know it will require a lot of responsibility and will be a large expense, but in the end I think that the rewards will far surpass the effort!
