Question:

How can I get to work faster in the morning?

There are so many diversions around where I live it is taking me 30 minutes to get to work in the morning and it only takes 10 minutes to get home. I hate queuing traffic and sometimes scream in the car. Any tips on coping with long traffic queues?

  1. Say THIS a few times:

    LORD,

give the power to change those things I CAN change,

the serenity to accept those things I CANNOT change,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

Also, as someone else said, get up a little earlier.

  2. leave earlier to beat the traffic and then read a newspaper or have a coffee and relAZ

  3. Get a pushbike, you'll save loads in the long run, it's quicker, you won't be polluting the atmosphere standing still and it keeps you fit!

  4. Deep breaths.  But if you get really stressed, you can always do a Michael Douglas like 'In the line of fire'

  5. Get out of bed and hour earlier

  6. Leave for work in plenty of time and don't let it worry you!  Think of it as twenty minutes that you can sit an watch the world go by!

  7. look at a map and maybe find a route that may be a little longer but less congested. there is usually always more then one way to get somewhere.

many people have much longer commutes than 30 min but find you a radio station you like listening to maybe get you satellite radio for your car to give you more options then sit back and cruise.

I personally have a 45 min commute and make do with regular radio. Also I get a little enjoyment out of my commute since its the only time I have that no one is talking to me for one reason or another.

  8. Try to negotiate flexitime and start work much earlier and leave earlier. I found that by starting work at an early time I was able to pick up the post from the sorting office and deal with much of the correspondence before the other staff arrived. I was not adversely affected by phone calls and started my day in fine fettle. It also meant that I missed the queues.

  9. Hi,

If walking/cycling aren't an option or you have no tram service to avoid traffic queues, you could try leaving home a bit earlier to avoid school 'drop off' times. This should be effective if you find that you are getting to work a lot quicker during the school hols.

  10. chill !!!!!!!!

everyone is in the same boat and noone likes it.

Stressing about it does not get you there quicker, it just makes for a really bad start to your day.

Turn on the radio (cd) sit back and enjoy the time before you start the daily grind !!!!

  11. sing, it always cheers me up. plus leave earlier to get to work

  12. bike it

  13. Buy a tank

  14. get a motorbike takes me 7 mins at 1am to get to work but 15 mins to get home at 9am lol

  15. If it only takes 10 minutes with no traffic, consider a bicycle.

Otherwise, just wake up earlier.  There's no other way.

  16. if it only take you 10 mins to get home how long would it take to walk?  maybe while there are diversions you could try walking.. good for the environment and your health and fitness levels.

  17. Walk or buy a push bike I think you live about 3 or 4 miles away from your work so a bike might be better
