How can I get tomatoes to ripen quicker?

If they're on the vine, pick them. But, you get less flavor than if they vine ripen. If they're off the vine, put them into a paper bag with a ripe banana. As bananas ripen, they give off a gas that speeds the ripening of other fruits. That's what I use for avocados that aren't quite ripe.
