Question:

How can I get video from a camera onto my computer?

So I have a video camera (not digital) and I need to be able to upload video from it to my computer.

It didn't come with a usb cord, just a charger and that cord that you plug into the tv to view the vid/burn it to a disc.

So is there a certain cord I'll need to buy to hook it up to my computer, or should (and can) I burn it to a DVD, then upload it to my computer?

And when I get it uploaded, will I be able to get it into Windows Movie Maker for editing?

Thanks for your help :D

  1. If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder…

You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 70.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.

  2. I use a JVC Everio GZ-MG155 camera with a docking station. Send me a link to this camera and I can help u much better. I use to have this cheap JVC analog video camera and had to use a computer card with AV cables attached to the camera and recorded the image to the hard drive.

  3. i think burning it to a dvd would be easier for you and yes you will be able to edit it with movie maker
