I would like to get a job in a huge department store, like Debenhams or John Lewis. However, every time I apply, I don't have much success, as either there are hundreds of others chasing the same vacancies - even Christmas jobs get quickly snapped up - or I fail in the sales role play exercises.
So has anybody got any advice on how to stand a better chance of landing a sales assistant role in a big store? I am 47 and have worked mostly in office/admin, but am now spreading my career aims now towards retailing. What qualities are the big retailers looking for? Advice please on how to stand out from all the other job applicants!
