  1. My dog and cat eat all there med with there food , you also put it in there treats or pore it down there trouts but you and allot of people cant do that.

  2. Mixing with food you won't really be able to tell if the whole dosage was taken if he doesn't finish the food. Some meds make the food taste weird and the cat won't touch it. Instead, wrap your kitty in a towel (like a burrito) with only his head sticking out. Put the dropper/syringe in the side of his mouth and give the meds. Follow with a treat for being a good kitty.

  3. You should ask your vet's advice on the best way to give the liquid medicines to your cat, but you could try putting some droplets on a little treat for him (some meat or something else your cat likes).

Also, you could ask your vet for a tablet alternative for your cat, which you could wrap in a treat or quite easily put in his mouth.

  4. Try putting them into a treat. If you put them in his food he may not get all of it at the same time. you can make treats out of a little bit of ground chicken.

  5. The only thing that worked for my cat was using the syringe (w/o needle) from the vet and squirting it in the side of my cat's mouth too fast for him to do anything about it.

  6. Tough ;love is what works best here. Trust me I have done this before. Get your kitty and wrap him in a towel so that he can't scratch you and then take the syringe and place it towards the back of his mouth and have at it. It may take a while to get all the meds down so take your time. Good luck. If you are still having some difficulty giving the meds ask your vet if they make this in a pill and then have them write you a prescription and take it to your local pharmacy, they usually fill these kinds of meds. Call and ask you pharmacy first just to be sure. I know that Wal-mart has filled some for my dogs, and they are cheaper than your vets meds. Also ask if your vet will price match, they don't really want you to take your money somewhere else so most of the time they will negotiate the price. Good LUck!

  7. Hi there,

In addition to some of the excellent detailed suggestions you have received, if all else fails, I find that with most liquid medications, mixing the dose in a small amount of baby food, (only meat and broth variety made by Beechnut- as there are no additives in the product) works really well.

Most cats love baby food. Additionally, if the kitty still refuses it, you can directly place the mixture onto the roof kitty's mouth, so you will know that the dose is correct and that kitty has to swallow.

Good luck with your cat and hope he is better soon.

  8. It helps if another person will hold the cat down. Just pick up the cat and grab his two back legs so he can not get away. lift him up just under the arms. They should've given you a dropper. If not, go get one because it makes it much easier. Then, with the cat in your hands, take the tip of the dropper and try to insert it into her teeth. Eventually her mouth will open after a little bit of struggle and you should quickly squirt all of the medicine in her mouth when that happens. Rinse and repeat until you have given her all of her meds. She'll really like it when she feels better!

  9. It should be.  Contact your vet to be sure, but when my cats needed liquid meds, I just mixed them into their wet food.  They had no clue so it made it alot easier.

  10. When I had to give my cat liquid meds, we wrapped him up in a winter jacket (like wrapping a baby in a blanket) so all his legs and paws were held and controlled. My husband held him (tight!) while I pried his mouth open and gave him the meds with an eyedropper the vet gave us.  Then afterwards I gave him a treat.

  11. you can mix it with their wet food or you can mix it with his/ her water

  12. Depending on what the medications are mixing with food is ok but be sure to mix it with a very small amount so you are sure that he/she gets all the medication before getting full.

  13. No don't mix it with the food. He most likely will not get the full dose.

Grab him by the scruff of his neck while sitting on the floor. Hold his body with your legs, pry his mouth from corner to corner placing your fingers in the sides. (he can't bite you then) using the dropper with the liquid squeeze the medicine to the side of the throat. It's a little work but he will get used to it.
