How can I go about finding and being sponsored for a job in England?

I am an American in Las Vegas, NV and am looking to relocate to the UK. Iam wondering what the best methods are for finding a job and being sponsored for a work visa are/would be, prior to my moving to the UK.. Thanks for any suggestions.

Contact some of the depts. of Tourism in London and other major UK cities.  They can likely direct you to good contacts and perhaps tell you what you need to work there.  Also check for listings like Craigslist.org or the like in the UK.  Should be able to find out quite a lot.
