Question:

How can I go swimming with my period?

Here's the deal, I'm taking a swim fitness class this summer. I decided to practice swimming so I wouldn't be completely out of shape. I had my period today so I put in a new tampon before I went in the pool and when I got out of the pool my period started to go down my legs. (sorry to gross anyone out) I only went swimming for 45 minutes or so, and my class is an hour and a half, so it would be even worse. My question is what can I do to stop that from happening? Is there some kind of product swimmers use? I can't just miss class for a week at a time, nor do I want an embarrassing accident.

  1. Sounds like you need a larger tampon...  there is no special product for swimmers...trust me,i've been swimming competitively my whole life.

  2. hmm

when i go swimming or even get in water when on my period it seems that no blood comes out. like when my body is emerged in water no blood comes out. l

im thinking maybe since you just started it was really heavy, and thats why you bled through your tampon. the first days of my period are the heaviest, then they get lighter.

think about what i said, maybe it  applies to you??

also, maybe you could try a heavier tamppon

  3. Obviously, only you know how heavy/light you may be when your cycle starts. You can use a better absorbing tampon, but to be safe - take a restroom break and change it halfway through class. I'm sure they allow restroom breaks....right?

Yea, I know. Seems weird for a guy to be telling you this, but I've been working with/around women for the last 10 years. Wow, lucky me.....NOT! I know how y'all can be around this time (lol)
