  1. Honestly, to be of real competition to get into NYU you will want a GPA around 3.75 and SATs around 2100 - 2200. I believe you will still have a chance of getting in with a 3.50 GPA and 2000 + SATs as according to Collegeboard roughly 30% of accept students are in that range or lower for GPA and midrange scores for SATs is roughly about 2000.

Because you do not have the best GPA you will want to separate yourself from the other students in other ways. For example, find ways to exhibit your passion in the fashion industry. Participate in activities, clubs, and sports to boost your appeal.

Start working on your application early and try to make it the best it can be, but keep it in your voice and show your passion in what you want to do and why you belong at NYU.

  2. Getting in is one thing, K? Getting help with the $50,000 per year tuition is another. If you take a few APs this year and do well and have a 3.5, and you get a 2000 plus SAT score, you may still get in. But you're not going to get any financial aid because they only give that to top applicants they are afraid of loosing to better schools.

  3. Not to burst your bubble, but you will not be accepted NYU with a high school record such as this.

You should apply to more than one school anyway, so look up the qualifications and high school requirements for multiple schools and apply to as many as possible (of course ones that you qualify for).

A 3.5 GPA in high school is like having a 3.0 in college.  It isn't anything special.  Mostly due to the fact that in high school, GPAs usually go up to around 4.5.  So, if you are not aiming to have as close to a 4.0 as possible, then you do not have a real chance of getting into a university like NYU.

Additionally, you need to work on your grammar as much as possible.   In your question you say "How can I go to NYU if a did bad my sophomore year?"  First off, you did badLY.  Second off, using like and kinda in every sentence isn't going to get you really good scores on the SAT.

I'm trying to give you constructive criticism....take it how you want it.  Just don't be disappointed when your denial letter arrives from NYU.  That's a difficult school to get into.
