For a week now I've been going to sleep at 4am and waking up at about 3pm. I hate it, because I'm always waking up so late. I want to sleep at 12am or the latest 1am, but I know if I try sleeping at that time, I just lie in bed awake until 4am. So how can I start going to bed earlier agian?

  1. For starters, eat a regular meal at around 5:00 pm, and don't eat anything after 8:00 pm. Turn off the t.v. and all other electronics around 10:00, and take a warm bath or shower to make yourself sleepy. Keep your bedroom window open if you can so that you will have fresh air all night, and try reading for an hour or so in bed. Try going to sleep with soothing ambient music, but not anything loud or with lyrics that will keep your mind engaged.

  2. 1.  Start preparing for bed about 10pm.

    2.  Force yourself to get up early - the goal, hopefully you will be tired earlier.

    3.  At 10 pm, do what you normally do that creates sleepiness at 4 am.

    4.  Don't get anxious because you are having trouble sleeping.  Lay quietly listening to the T.V. with your eyes closed.  I am familiar with the Simpson's episodes so if the Simpson's are on I listen to them because I can picture the episodes in my head.

    5.  Lay on the sofa with a blanket that makes you feel cozy.

    6.  Don't get frustrated with your self.  Sleep will come.

Combine these ideas with the ideas which have already been given.

Certain foods are supposed to help sleep, bananas, cheese, a glass of milk.

    All the best!

  3. Take Tylenol PM at 10pm....you'll be out by midnight. You really need to get on a normal schedule...sleeping at times sporadically isn't good for your health.
