I want to have lucid dreams more. I usually have one every 34 months or so. Is there any tips to help me have them more often?

  1. I find that i can have a lucid dream nearly every morning, i set my alarm to a custom one that only rings for about a second, and it nearly always puts me in the lucid dream state.

Try it out man, it's so fun!

  2. Look back over your non-lucid dreams, is there something they all have in common, a recurring incident, person, object, action? Once you can recognise these they can become triggers to gaining lucidity.

In my own dreams there is most often something to do with numbers, a door number, a telephone number, a train timetable etc and I can never work or understand them properly. Once i recognised these it seems they are in pretty much every dream i have and act as a trigger to me being lucid. If i cannot work a telephone, or write down a number correctly then i realise i am dreaming and can have a little in dream laugh about the absurdity of never being able to use a phone (a common one for me).

I also have another trigger where my legs won't work...i fall over or cant get up....

    :-)

  3. Further to the above: Post it notes around the place before you sleep, so you're subconciously asking 'Am I dreaming?' Can be useful also. I'm also a fan of individual triggers and associations - is there any common situations of behaviours leading up to your regular lucid dreams that you can imitate or duplicate to prompt a lucid dream? Is there a cycle of some kind that you are responding too? (Google biorythmic cycles for a few ideas) - Are the lucid dreams actually lucid, or are you just dreaming about having a lucid dream (deeply philosophical double twister question that one)

I had a client who was sure they were lucid dreaming, however in the end we determined the content was a replay of a previous dream that night, where different things were happening than the first time around. The second dream felt lucid, as the dreamer felt a choice was being made, when in fact, they simply remembered the events of the first dream.

Flick me an email if you have any more specific questions, I can dig up a couple of excersizes for you - they've been useful for some dreamers, not so much for others.

  4. sorry they only come when you are meant to have them, and they come when you are meant to have a message for your self.

    good luck

  5. Get in the habit of periodically throughout the day asking yourself, "is this a dream?"

  6. I find that I can lucid dream on a fairly regular basis. I am always doing little checks of reality through the day. Like taking note of something, and realizing that I would never have that in my world. Then when I dream I find myself doing the same checks. When I realize that I am dreaming, I try to bring a red balloon into the dream situation. Once the balloon is there I am on my way to completely controlling it, and living in the dream world. I always feel weird the next day though.
