  2. You don't indicate how old your child is and what the end intent is.  

    If this is to get him to be a great pitcher early so that he stands out and gets a major league contract for it, then stop now.  The best thing in this case is for him to play outfield.  Very few if any major league pitchers were pitchers in little league.  Little arms wear out and get too injured to continue pitching.

    If he is now competing with other pitchers, then perhaps some upper body exercise would help.  These should exercise everything from the waist up.  

    If you dream of him someday being a great pitcher, but he isn't pitching now and he is very young, I'd suggest having him climb trees a lot.  That will lengthen his fingers, give him a better sense of balance and distance, and in general keep him healthy and fit.  

    The other thing to do is just wait a bit.  Have him do a few pitches per week (perhaps 20, but there is a schedule available on this), but no more than that.  As he gets stronger, he may get faster.  Don't push it.  Pitching too young or too much is a major cause of injuries.

  4. I coach high school baseball. Now if your kid is young have him just work on his form mainly. Dont worry about throwing hard. If his form is off and you start having him do what I say h**l get hurt.

    To strengthen arm-WARM UP(jog and stretch), then start off with about 20 throws from 20 feet. Go back another 10 yards and repeat 20 throws. Once you have done this continue going back until youre bouncing the ball to get it there. After a few months of doing this you will see a great increase. ALWAYS Make sure to ice afterwards. I NEVER iced and I regret it now.

  5. you don't need fast fast fast to be effective i am a pitcher and my fastball is only 59 61 i keep hitters off balanced with my curve at 43 48 and i had a productive season last year going 9-11 with an era of 3.69 i just struggled cuz my arm was sore at the end
