Question:

How can I have my own personal style?

I really love vintage clothes, and I like things that look different. I'm tired of looking like everybody else. How can I dress in my own style while still looking laid back and like I haven't tried hard?

Pictures and examples of people/celebrities would be appreciated maybe, thanks :)

  1. to make a style all your own takes time its got to be who you are what you like what you want people to see you as how to express your personality you got to be different but with style don't go drastic spend allot of time looking at what others wear and try and think how you could make it that bit better  its a fine line being nice and being chic nether go other the top that's to much study people your answer is there making your own designs helps perfectly having your designs done by others costly look good but most of all be you attraction starts things personality make things good look

  2. i have the same problem

  3. think of the formality of where your going and dress accordingly. or get ur own designer ,lol.

  4. Just wear what you like.

Don't let others influence you. Wear what YOU want to wear.

I find it funny how you want pictures of other people as an example. That doesn't work If you want to be unique.

  5. Just be yourself girl, everyone's unique.

  6. Try shopping at stores that have crazy clothes! you know, they're diffrent! Try going to shop at places with odd names, wild colors, and more! If that isn't crazy enough make your own clothes! Then they can be as crazy as you want them to be! Dont be afraid to express yourself! Dont always try to follow the crowd! Good job!!!!!

  7. you just have to have confidence in whatever you wear and keep it *simple*.

never question yourself. and if you every feel like it may be necessary, look in the mirror and take off one accessory. thats how you know you're probably not overdoing it.

  8. dude just wear wat u want.....

  9. I don't know where you live, but if it's near a big city then you'll be in luck- make it a day with friends and go round vintage shops and charity shops- in London at least all the best ones are concentrated in 3/4 areas of the city, with live bands playing at some on a saturday afternoon!!

A way I try to mix up my look is by mixing prices and brands- an expensive (I'm at school so it's expensive) £50 ($100ish) blouse with cheap jeans from H&M, a cute and original 40s beret I found in a cute vintage shop and my bag from Paul's Boutique- et voila, keeping trendy but still looking like you have your own style.

BTW- Paul's Boutique, one or two pieces from there can really change your wardrobe because even though the brand is seen on celebrities they have lots of different styles of all their clothing- in fact, each piece is unique. You aren't very likely to see someone else with the same item as you.

Finally, look through your closet and think abut how you could layer or customise pieces- making your look truly original.

Sorry for the REALLY long answer :D

  10. just make sure to decide if you think an article of clothing is something you want to wear (like not just buying it because it's 'in') make sure to keep an open mind about different stores you never know what you'll find :)

  11. just go the the places u want to shop, buy what you like, dont go where everyone else goes and ull come up with something different.

  12. It's easy. Dress how you like and there it is.

  14. i developed my style shopping at thrift stores.  people tell me all the time they love my style.  i really never thought i had one of my own until other people starting commenting.  i help those less fortunate than myself when i shop at local charity stores and look good as well.   i think nicole richie and kate hudson both have that vintage/hobo vibe.  i am sure they spend a fortune to look like they do but try local thrift stores and i think you will be surprised at what you might find.

  15. i totally know what you mean! what i do is while everybody else is here in my small town shopping at the same stores, like kohls, american eagle, hollister. i go out of town and go to smaller boutique type places. they  have really cute tops, i pair them with jeans. instead of wearing fitted T's that say aeropostale 1989 blabla bla iv'e got one of a kind stuff!

  16. thats an easy one, just be yourself.

  17. to have your own style is cool and takes a lot of guts so good for you for having the confidence!! try a serena inspired look from gossip girl. She's so causual and has gorgeous clothes but makes them look like she hasn't bothered much with them

  18. If you want to have your own style why are you looking for ones of celebrities? Just stop caring what people think of you and look for what you like and that's your own style. If you love vintage clothes, look for those in things like thrift stores. Have fun!

  19. Just wear whatever you want, make stuff, change old clothes, don't follow fashion or celebrities (people dress them).

  20. Make your clothes work for you.

Like, bedazzle a pair of jeans,

or learn how to make your own clothes.

    That would be really unique.

  21. ^^^^^^ Pmsl

  22. Shop in charity shops.

  23. Pictures and examples of other people wouldn't really help you have a personal style, would it?

  24. wear a sombrero with a japanese kimono. that would be awesome. maybe add some dutch wood shoes.
