How can I have the correct Umlaut displayed in German News module instead of Chinese characters?

I currently have the German/Swiss news module from Yahoo displayed on My Yahoo. The module displays a Chinese character or space instead of the Umlauts (ü,ö etc). How can I have the module display the correct character?

  1. remove the chinese one and reinstall the german one
