The best thing you can do for anyone who has lost a loved one is just let them know you care.  There is nothing you can do to make that family member feel better.  There is nothing worse than losing a child.  Just letting him/her know you care is the best thing you can do.  Pray is a powerful tool.  Pray and time are the only thing that will ease the pain.

It's going to be extremely hard on her as I'm sure you already know. Grief is one of the hardest things to get over. It's hard for people to accept death of a loved one, let alone their only child. Do as the woman above me stated and just be there as much as possible for her. Her pain may last a long time, so be patient with her. After all, its her loss more than anyones. Even as a father, It would be hard for me to compare to any mother just for the simple fact of the pregnacy. Men are very lucky when it comes to that and my hats off to all the mothers for going what they go through. This is not to say the father doesn't have feelings or emotions about the loss of a child, it's just the mother has a more physical bond between her and the child. I'm sorry for your family members loss and I'll put her in my prayers and ask GOD to help heal her and ease her pain. It must me the most devistating and terrible thing she's ever been through. Take careof her and give her a shoulder to weep on when needed. It might take both your shoulder's.

Let her know that you are there for her whenever she needs you.   She might just want and need time to be by herself right now so remember to give her space as well.

So So Fly has it cold.  I have been through it and she needs someone to be there. Just to be there. You need not even talk, just be there.
