Question:

How can I help my ball python with his shed?

I have heard you can place your ball python in the tub with a little water so they can get wet and it helps them shed. My snake doesn't have a very large water dish and he can only get part of him wet at a time. True, can this be helpful? Is there anything else I can do to help him?

  1. yes this helps, try to find a  water bowl that he can get into and soak, as this also will help if he gets mites or ticks

  2. Put him in a plastic container with damp moss and have a heat pad underneath.  This will help the ball python shed.  Ot will get the skin wet so then it will come of easier.  Hope this helps and good luck!

  3. well you can use shed-aid most pet stores carry it and plenty of water

  4. Give your snake a week and a half to two weeks to shed on it's own.  If your snake is having a bad shed take a plastic box, large enough for your snake to fit in it comfortably.  Get the short boxes for soaking snakes…the box should be about the height to go under a bed.  Drill several small holes along the sides at the top for airflow (this box can also be used as a feeding tub for your snake).  Put about a half inch or an inch of lukewarm water (about 80 Fahrenheit) and put the top on the plastic tub and “soak” the snake for about 3 hours (changing the water every so often if needed when it gets cold).  The reason to do this in a plastic tub with only a half inch or inch of water is because it's the humidity that this creates that helps the skin loosen and come off easier for your snake.

    Good luck.

  5. soak him in lukewarm water for up to an hour.  (if done in the tube be sure to rinse out any soaps before) put him back in his enclosure and make sure he has something rigid to rub against, like a branch or a rock.

  6. I answered this in your first post.

    Good luck.
