  1. Book an appointment with your grandson's SENCO at school.  They will tell you what the school's strategies are, that way you are working in collaboration with his school. This will ensure maximum benefit to your grandson.

  2. Click on the link below.

  3. I use the Toe-by-Toe book with kids at school, and find it works wonders.  It's definitely available through Amazon.

You could also try these websites to get some good activities.

Dyslexic pupils seem to do really well at touch typing and are able to get to grip with correct spelling, so you might like to get your grandson working those fingers on the keyboard.  I've also included a link for a great interactive touch typing course for kids.

  4. Where do you live?  If you are near a university, you are just in time to audit a course in the special education department of a local university.  You will meet great people, learn wonderful things, and really benefit from the experience.  I highly, highly recommend it.  You may also inspire the university to offer parent-centered classes, because I have noticed a need and interest.

I'm sorry to offer this warning if you are not this type of person, but, if you pursue this, try to avoid constantly telling stories about your grandson.

  5. try to b frndly with him. work on him, paly with him, help him differentiate btn.similar looking words, try to improve his handwriting.

  6. I am a reading specialist and also an Orton Gillingham certified teacher.  There are many programs that would be beneficial for your grandson such as Wilson, Project read, alphabetic phonics etc. I assume you have an assessment of dyslexia from a diagnostician.  Does your grandson have a specialized reading program in school?  Without knowing the specific background of your grandson I would suggest that you either hire a tutor familiar with multisensory teaching methodology or you could teach him with the proper training.  I realize that this information is not to involve personal services etc. but if you are interested I do have a service where I train parents to work with dyslexic children.  You don't need a degree and everything can be done via the Internet.  The cost is very reasonable and you will be helping your grandson make the necessary progress to achieve in life.  Again however if you can obtain a certified tutor that would also be advisable however it can be costly and let me know if I can be of additional help.
