Question:

How can I help my friends' shotty marriage?

Two of our best friends got married after we introduced them. He knocked her up and they're expecting a third girl. She was previously married and had two girls with that guy. The new hubby, a friend, hates her girls and hits them and they're scared of him. The girls are only 4 and 2! And normal girls for their ages. He lies to her and doesn't show up to work most the time and stays out all night long and into the next day with his single guy friends out of town. We think he's drinking (he says he's not) and we think he's cheating (he says he's not).

What can we do? What can we say?

  1. Call child protective services, or report child abuse to the local police department.  You don't have to tell anyone you called, and tell them you want to remain anonymous.  Do this for the children and not your friends.  They deserve to be treated with love, not abuse.  Be their voice and report them to the authorities.

  2. Nothing.  It isn't your business anymore.

  3. Seems like your feeling guilty for introducing them, remember that they are grown ups and made there own decisions together.   Having said that, abusing the kids is not ok and you need to do something about it.  You need to talk to her (the wife) and tell her that either she does something about the situation or you will. If you stand back and do nothing you are as guilty of child abuse as they are!  Call CPS!!!
