  1. Make sure it's not constipated by feeding it the inside of a steamed or boiled pea.  If that doesn't solve the problem, you can add some epsom salts to the water to equalize the pressure inside and outside of the fish.  This should make it more comfortable and help enable it to swim more easily.  Make sure you use epsome salts and NOT aquarium salt.  Aquarium salt will only make the problem worse.

  2. Air bladder disease, or swim bladder disease, causes fish suffering to have difficulty maintaining their normal upright position in the water.

    * Symptoms: Abnormal swimming pattern, difficulty maintaining equilibrium.

make sure you are feeding the right food and make sure the fish is not constipated. Give it live food for awhile to ensure it is getting enough roughage. Also, check the temperature for your fish's requirements and keep the temperature stable.

microwaved peas are good for them.

  3. Feed them shelled peas. You should be feeding them sinking food, nothing that floats. As they eat floating food, they swallow air and then can't swim properly. You could also be overfeeding them. When they are overfed, their stomach pushes against the swim bladder. These are the 2 most common causes of your fish's symptoms. I learned by making these mistakes.

  4. You could feed it peas
