  1. Be cruel. If the vet said get him up, get him up! Have you pull on the halter and if you can get someone behind him to push or hit him. Sorry, sounds mean but if it could save his life....

  2. try and walk him entice with hay or water but dont give any if you do get him up keep him moving try pulling on his tail and halter good luck pull hard push him pull up

  3. This sound bad but it works faster and not as cruel as hitting him or tugging on him.  My old horse smart neighbor did this to my horse and it jumped up.  He just used his  fingers and pinched his nostrils closed enough so that it blocked the air.  They will usually get up rather quickly.  Good Luck I hope all goes O.K.

  5. how long has your horse been down? did the vet say to get him up?

try getting a couple ropes under his belly, as close to his hips and shoulders as possible and have a few people help you get him up. if he has been down for awhile, you HAVE to get him up. Horses are large animals and if they are down to long their intestines start to push on each other and can cause major problems.

  6. Sally's suggestion is an excellent one! It does work.
