My 14 year old sister has been collecting donations for three years now to take to the Ronald McDonald Charities. She has been collecting new toys, canned goods, and other house hold items. She decided to do this on her own after my family had to stay at a Ronald McDonald house around Christmas. My son had to have open heart surgery when he was born and the Charity helped as out so much when we were there. Now she has been trying to make other family's christmas's a little brighter by asking family and friends if they would like to donate something and then she takes everything to the Charity I would like to see her get more then she has in the past so I want to know how can I help her get more donations this year? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance to all who answer.

  1. Bravo! That's a wonderful thing to do - why not place an ad in your local paper or Craigslist

  2. You might want to consider hosting a raffle, a rummage sale, a trivia night, or another, more unique event to raise extra money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. For example, I once read an article about some teenage Amnesty International members in New York State who held a "rock-a-thon" -- in which they rocked back and forth in rocking chairs for 8 hours -- to raise money for human rights. Maybe you could do something like that.

  3. call around to local stores and companies and ask for donations
