Ok I have a 3 year old who doesen't want to go to the bathroom.I think she is constipated? For some reason she doesent want to go.She has been potty trained since she was 2(allmost 4)

What Can I do to help her go?I tried the karo syrup but that isen't working.

She has a bowl-movement about every 3 days, her doctor said this just may be how often she goes.I don't know...is it normal to go 1 every 3 days like he said?

And what are some home remedies I can try?

Thanks in advanced for help...I am a born worrier.

  1. Get prunes

They come single(wrapped) and it might be funnier and taster for her to eat.

If that doesn't work try the baby food prunes and mix it in with her food.

try not to let her have milk bananas this will constipate her more.

apple juice will also help her go

If she doesn't go get her to dr in a day or two

  2. she has to eat lots of fiber and fruits and drink a lot of water... keep a smile in your heart.... ('-')

  3. my daughter was very similar and now she is 12 and still occassionally has issues.  What worked for her was fiber foods.  Blueberries, rasberries, whole wheat breads and pastas, Kiwi (actually very good).  Fiber is important and if she isnt getting enough then she will back up.

  4. My daughter is the same way (she is almost 2).  I am able to monitor how much she goes because she is potty trained.  I have tried giving her diluted prune juice, lots of fruit and veggies (which she eats all of the time), limiting her intake of binding foods such as milk, cheese, rice, bananas, etc...it doesn't matter what I do she still only poops once every few days.  And to make matters worse, she is constipated when she does go.  She drinks plenty of water and juice, so that isn't a problem.  In a matter of fact she once ate a whole pint of raspberries in one sitting and still didn't go until two days later.I am the same way as my daughter.  Its just how some people are.

  5. Make sure she is eating salad and fruit.  She needs fiber.  If you can get her to eat like an apple keep the peeling on as that is where the fiber is.  Apple juice might help too.  Limit the dairy, some kids go overboard with milk and cheese and yogurt.

  6. Increase her fruits and vegetables. Also give her some fruit juice like a prune/apple mix or just grape juice. Add some bran to her diet, like a bran cereal. And cut back on bananas and cheese, that'll plug her up.

Once every few days may be normal to her. My kids go three times a day.
