I used to be able to remember several dreams a night and with a lot of detail. Now for some reason I don't remember any or a tiny fragment. Any ideas?

  1. When you wake up, don't get up immediately.  Lay there quietly and try to reconnect with the dream.  If you get up and start doing other things you will probably lose the small connection that you DO have with the dream.  I have also heard that keeping a glass of water next to the bed and drinking it as soon as you wake up is helpful, don't know why.

Another trick is to write on a slip of paper "I will remember my dreams upon waking" and put it under your pillow when you go to sleep.  It might sound silly but can be very effective because your  unconscious mind is aware that it's there.

  2. Previous answer are exactly right.  I used to keep a dream journal, and I would to it like this:

Cast:  I would write down EVERYONE that was in the dream.  Phil, grandma, crazy aunt Jenny... everyone.

Locations:  Everywhere that I experienced in the dream... the White House, a scary dungeon, crazy aunt Jenny's house, etc.

Script:  Then I would write the narative of what happened in the dream.  like a story.  THis should help a great deal in your dream recall ability.

Good luck, and do a google search for "lucid dreams"... it's cool.

  3. immediately when you wake up in the morning or in the middle of the night, write it down in a dream journal and keep the journal right next to your bed.

  4. Yeah, the notebook thing. I heard about that on A Nightmare On Elm Street

  5. Hypnosis?

  6. Pat your head and rub your stomach.

  7. keep a notebook by ur bed and u can usually remember then right when u wake up and write them down and even at first if u can only remember parts just write it down and over like 7-10 days you will remember alot of them.
