  1. You don't have to be an adult to help the environment.

You can just check items that your family throws away for a recycling sign. Start a recycling tradition. You get money for recycling to. Start a car pool to school to prevent polluting the air. There are many things you can do.

  2. One of the best things you can do for your environment is.. keep informed (with multiple types and sides of information, to draw your own conclusions about the environment) and keep it local. Nothing beats seeing the results of your work.

    a list to try:

    a. Pick up trash on your school campus

    b. Pick up trash at a local park with supervision

    c. Recycle at your house and encourage recycling at your school and local business (school and businesses with parents)

    d. Write letters to your local representative about community programs you can take part in. (ask your parents to help you with that)

    e. Take what you have learned and experienced and talk with your peers about how they can help

GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE INTERESTED..   :-)

  3. Good on you for being keen to improve the world around you.  May I suggest one thing first; some people will tell you that global warming is nonsense, others that it's absolutely serious.  While it's true that global warming goes in cycles, mankind can indeed accelerate global warming by huge Co2 emissions and other abuses of the environment.  But you know what?  It matters not if it's true or not!  Because relying on fossil fuels and other pollutive means to run our modern world is just plain unhealthy, especially when we have the means to be much more gentle on our planet.  On my own computer I have complete details of how to convert any petrol or diesel engine to run 100% on hydrogen - safely, from water, all on board the vehicle, without risk.  Free and zero emissions.  It can only be a great thing if people like yourself do all they can to 'walk lightly on the earth' as it were.  One thing you can do is if you take up a sport or recreation, make sure it's something that doesn't use fuel (other than maybe getting to a location).  Instead of getting a jetski or motocross bike or suchlike, take up landyachting (massive fun, adrenaline with no noise or pollution), sailing, mountainbiking, moutainboarding, foil sailing (as on 'beyond tomorrow' tv6 couple of days ago).  If your dad wants a power boat, suggest instead a yacht - cheaper, more fun, and green!

Good on you, you go green - honestly whether global warming is real or not, green is more fun and better for us all anyway!

  4. when i was your age, my parents never recycled.  so i found the recycling bins in the garage, washed them out and found a place for them in the garage.  then i told my family to leave out their recyclable products and i would sort them, compress them (let the air out of containers, or crush soda cans) and put them in the bins.  then i would take the recycling down to the street curb every week.  now that i am grown my parents recyle on their own!  by making the effort i did as a child, i helped change my parents mind on recycling!  and every little bit helps!

also, turn off appliances (your computer, tv, lights) when they aren't in use.  if you only listen to your radio once in a while, unplug it when you're done listening to it.

ask your parents to buy CFL (those are the new funny shaped light bulbs) light bulbs when the ones they have burn out.  they're about the same cost as regular bulbs.  but they save money on the energy bill, and they last as long as NINE YEARS!  thats a long time to go without having to replace a light bulb!  ask your parents to buy reusable grocery bags.  or if they absolutly refuse, collect the plastic grocery bags and drop them back off at the grocery store for recycling on your next trip back to the grocery store!

ask your parents to buy enviromentally friendly cleaning products instead of the regular brands, or the brands that smell good (and that pretty smell only lasts for a short while).  they are about the same cost, and work just as good!

there are so many other options out there!  do some more research online and you'll be amazed at how many options are out there!

I'm so proud to see your age group notices the enviroment and is concerned about its care!  thats cool  :o)

  5. walk places, ask your parebts for low energy lightbulbs, carpool with other kids, reuse plastic bags, and donate to good causes, also , go to greendimes.com and foodroutes.org!, there are so mant easy ways, also use a glass mug and a thermos, and not styrofoam or plastic mugs!
