Question:

How can I help to free this bob cat?

Our local nature center has a bob cat in a small cage. I would guess it's only two or three years old. Is there anything I can do to have them release it? I know this animal is meant to be free and it's sick how they've kept it in this small space. Please please let me know of anything I can do to help it?

Thank you.

  1. Start a petition, and tell them you and everyone who signs the petition will stop seeing the cat.

Once you get as many signatures as around 70% of how many people visit the facility. Hope this helps. :)

  2. How long has it been in there?  I'm sure if it's a nature center that they wouldn't harm any animal.  It could be in a small cage because they may have other wildlife living in the area that they do not want to be killed, or the bob cat had simply wandered onto the land and they didn't want it to get hurt and plan on releasing it soon. :)

  3. Find the closest humane animal center and tell them

  4. Call your local Wildlife Management office. They can either investigate themselves or pass the info on to the proper authorities. Special licenses can be obtained to harbour wild animals but even with a license, proper accommodations and medical care are necessary.

  5. Instead of a petition, which will do squat, tell the local Animal Welfare Authorities, that this animal should be released into the wild, or at least tell them to tell the Nature Center that the cage is ridiculously small.
