I am a college student from Detroit, Michigan and I really want to join a program that assists in health care in third world countries. A friend of mine went to Ghana to help in the hospitals there and I am looking for something similar. Does anyone know of any programs or how I can possibly do this?

  1. All you have to do is settle someplace around Detroit...

this country will be reduced to third world country status

by the time you get out of school!

  2. research non profit organizations that lets doctors travel around the world to provide free healthcare on the net. contact those agencies and tell them who you are, what you do and tell them you would like to donate your services to those less fortunate. or you could join the peace corps.

  3. Doctor's Without Borders is a good place to start.  Also, there a many religious organizations that have medical missions.  CBN's Operation Blessing has medical teams going places all the time.

Also, if you enter "Medical Missions" into your browser you will come up with a whole list of groups that do medical missions including one site that gives a directory of groups that have medical missions.
