  1. You need to increase your lung capacity.  You can do this by exercising, especially aerobic and cardiovascular activities.  It can be a gradual process, but it will pay off in the end.  You'll also be healthier and have a great body!

  2. Take 3 really deep breaths holding each one for 30 seconds before letting out.  Such as breath in..hold  for 30 seconds then let out all air, then repeat...breath in....hold for 30 seconds then let out all air..repeat for third time.  This is an exercises my coach has us do. It works.  With continuous practice it will only get better.  Try it.

  3. By getting bigger lungs! no jp

Practice holding your breath longer. It doesn't come by a miracle!

  4. take voice lessons. singing helps you use less breath and so if u use less breath, u'll be able to go under water longer. hope that helps!

  5. take many practices at it. the longer you try to hold your breath the more u try to do it the more your lungs will udjust to  you holding your breath

  6. practice diving in with fins and getting to the other side.

practice breathing every 7th or 9th stroke when swimming frestyle. it will help increase your long capacity.

try diving in and going as far as you can w/o breathing. mark where you land and try to beat it every time. some people can even do 50 yards!!
