  1. Since you say that you have an aux-input jack on your Prius, it must be a 2006-current model year with at least the mid-grade audio system... (The aux-input jack just connects your audio device to output the headphone/line-out jack to produce audio on the car's speakers, nothing more.)

You can hook up an external audio device (such as an iPod, Walkman, or portable navigation unit) through the auxiliary audio input  jack (aux-in) found inside the center console (moat between the front  seats).  You'll need a 3.5mm or 1/8" mini stereo male to male  headphone cable.  (You plug into the headphone/aux-out port in your  audio device, then plug into the Prius' aux-in port.)

Meanwhile, here are some options for iPod integration (where you can control your iPod through the touch screen and steering wheel controls, and songs will display on the MFD) for a 2004-current Prius:

various Vais Technology products add an aux-input or will do an iPod hookup. (I used their older AIC-100i model without issues in my 2004 Prius for full iPod integration.): http://www.vaistech.com/

  2. You need a cable that has a male plug at both ends (the plug ends look like a headphone  plug).

    RadioShack has them
