My roomate and I have a small apt but if I could I wouldn't mind helping out and housing a couple or small family or one person for a couple weeks. How would one go about this?

I live about an hour and a half north of Kansas City

  1. It's never a good idea to bring people into your home that you don't know their history, background, or anything else about them. The best thing you could do for the people of Louisiana is to call the agencies that are down here working to aid the evacuees, such as the Red Cross and ask what you could do.

You could even contact the Humane Society and offer to take in evacuated pets for people.

While this is very commendable of you, PLEASE DON'T DO IT!

  2. Are you crazy?

  3. Donate money instead.

  4. Put an ad on Craig's list, you will get a few interesting "evacuees" to help.

  5. check out this website, it'll tell you how to be a member and help evacuees and victims of hurricanes and other natural disasters.

  6. So what you are saying is, is that you want to be raped and your apartment trashed by a bunch of scumbags that their own family won't take them in, and/or do not make enough money to rent something else short term?

You better think about what you are doing.  I've seen nightmare cases in Tennessee from this from Katrina.
